Complacency

Just starting a new series titled "complacency".  Is it just me, or do you get tired of hearing phrases like "it is what it is"?  Get out there and friggin change things!  Thats what the Parkland students are doing...what a great example to all of us.  So stay tuned!  My take on the complacency problem is coming soon!

Why a gun painting?

I had a couple of friends ask me my intent behind my triptych "Training Wheels - "DO GOOD".  These paintings, like my cigarette painting, are really about the fact that we want our kids to do good, yet we give them toy guns from the time they're little.  We sensor our media for nudity, but not violence.  To me, that just doesn't make any sense.  I know we have a mental health issue in our country, but we also have a gun issue.  It's sad that I'm glad I don't have children in school.  Schools should be a safe haven, and we, as adults, should make our actions speak louder than our words.  If we don't want kids desensitized to guns, lets not give them guns, with silencers, as toys.

Candy Cigarette kind of girl...

I was probably about five when I delighted in my first candy cigarette.  I can still remember opening the pack, shaking out a cigarette, putting it between my lips and inhaling deeply.  Of course, the fake smoke rings were next.  Looking back, this was definitely not a good thing to teach a child!  My guess, the big tobacco companies started the whole candy cigarette craze.  What's amazing is that, even today, they're brought in as "fun treats" to children's parties.  Hmm.
